Jake Shields finally got his shot for the Elite XC welterweight Belt as he dominated with a quick win over over Nick Thompson. Now that Jake Shields is the new champion, the EliteXC will now have to look to find top contenders for the new welterweight title holder as the UFC has the stable of top contenders at 170lbs.
John Alessio has recently signed on with Elite XC as confirmed on MMAWeekly.com by Vice President Jared Shaw on Tuesday. John Alessio has been training with Xtreme Couture seems to be the best contender to face Jake as Shields dominated his Alessio team mate Mike Pyle by Rear Naked Choked.
Alessio is 5-2 in his last 7 fights and should make his debut in EliteXC within a few months according to Shaw sometime early fall, September. Shaw also mentioned that both Alessio and Daley could be considered for a shot at Shields’ newly won title.
