This Summer I am undecided if I will be going to Brazil or California?

What I want to do is BJJ and Kickboxing/tai work.
Plus reasonable prices

Any help please post

Oh man, I'd go to Brazil if I had the money. But I'm guessing Cali would be more affordable given you're in the US as well. But then again, it is a grip to train here anyways. Expect at least $100 a month, and thats per MA style. I believe its even more if you train at a Gracie school.

Next to Brazil, Cali has a ton of BJJ and NHB places to train. Where exactly in CA were you thinking of going?

There are a lot of gyms in Cali... to avoid. Nothing that has the name Kovars. If you are in the sacramento area "No Limits" is the way to go. A friend of mine runs it. It is a working gym with no fees, his fighters are 26 and 3 in NHB, they are ranked 8th I beleive.

as in Danny Inosanto? If so, where is that? I might want to check it out for Escrima/Arnis (Fillipino Stick Fighting). Thanks.

City Boxing with Dean Lister here in San Diego. Along with Dean, they've got Brandon Viera, an olympic standby greco-roman wrestler and a scary bjj player, pro boxing coaches, a team of fairtex coaches, and the nicest facilities I've seen anywhere. Dean's also one of the nicest and most generous people you could hope to train with.

Rodrigo Medeiros is also in town, and it's hard to find better trad bjj. Fabio Santosi is here, and apparently one of Ralph's students is down here as well.

In L.A. you've got a ton of folks, but a good friend is training both with Rei Diogo and at the RAW gym and raves about both. Inosanto Academy has both Paulson and Yori Nakamura (Paulson's coach), who is just scary.

California is the hot bed for MMA and these instructors are professionally ranked. The cost is going to be around $100 a month, but if you cut down on going out drinking/partying for two weeks, I'm sure you'll be able to afford it.

My picks for Norcal area:
www.fairtex.com SF (nuff' said)
www.ralphgracie.com SF,Mt.View(Alex Khanbabian-Japan Shooto fighter runs the MMA class)
www.graciefighter.com Pleasant Hill (Cesar Gracie, Dave Terrell, Nick Diaz run the classes)
www.akakickbox.com SJ(Frank Shamrock, Dave Camarillo, Bob Cook)

My picks for SoCal area:
www.chrisbrennan.com (His students are tough mofos and pro ranked)
www.machadobjj.com (Great instructors)
www.cityboxing.com (Dean Lister! Instructors are great)

Remember to use the free introductory classes. Don't sign up on the spot...try them out, go home and think about it. I'm sure you'll find a place you'll like.

I'm also interested in possibly training and I'm in the SoCal area. I know some kids who trained with Brennan (they knew his son) yet on the other hand I've been nudged towards RVT (run by Marco Ruas I think?). In your opinion which is possibly the better environment for a beginner?

I have heard working with black belt Marcelo Perdomo is great, the school is in Long Beach, about 30 min. south of LA and on the border of Orange County. Marcelo is actually the one leading the technique sessions, watching the sparring sessions, and even sparring with the students. His school is fairly new and his team is still new, so being someone new to the sport, I think you have a good opportunity to grow with the team. It was just recently decided that Marcelo would be the base for Brazilian Top Team in California, also he comes from the Carlson school. For someone new, I think BTT would be awesome...but no matter what, it is how much time and dedication that you put into it.
